Sandra Bullock files for divorce

Sandra Bullock finally breaks her silence. She talks to People magazine this week and appears on it's cover with her adopted son.
Yes, you read that right, she has adopted a son. Actually, she and Jesse started the adoption process four years ago. They brought their son home in January but decided to keep it quiet until after the Oscars. His name is Louis Bardo Bullock. She says she is in the process of filing for a divorce and will finalize the adoption as a single parent.

Jesse James issued this statement...

"My whole life has been full of hard decisions.

"The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own, has been the hardest. The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart.

"Sandy is the love of my life, but considering the pain and devastation I have caused her, it would be selfish to not let her go. Right now it is time for me to beat this addiction that has taken two of the things I love the most in life.

"I have always taken great pride in proving people wrong. That time has come once again to show that I am not what everyone says I am. I know in my heart that I can be the best father possible to my four children, and the mate Sandy deserves, and realize that this is an incredible mountain to climb. But I believe that the steps I have taken in the last 30 days are the foundation for making this happen. The lifelong commitment I am making is what being a real husband and father is all about.

"I ask that you please do not judge Sandy for the things I have done. She has done no wrong. She played no part in any of this. She has been an amazing wife, mother, and best friend, for the over 6 years we have been together."

The 45th Annual Academy of Country Music awards were held on April 18th and once again this performer was nominated for the biggest award, Entertainer of the Year....and once again he lost. Ina Garten's Rugalah

If you guys don't know by now...I am a HUGE Ina Garten fan. I LOVE her! When I saw her making this recipe, I  knew I had to try it. It did not dissapoint.
Rugalah
Ingredients:

8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2-pound unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup granulated sugar plus 9 tablespoons
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup apricot preserves, pureed in a food processor
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk, for egg wash

Directions:
Cream the cheese and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until light. Add 1/4 cup granulated sugar, the salt, and vanilla. With the mixer on low speed, add the flour and mix until just combined. Dump the dough out onto a well-floured board and roll it into a ball. Cut the ball in quarters, wrap each piece in plastic, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

To make the filling, combine 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar, the brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, the raisins, and walnuts.

On a well-floured board, roll each ball of dough into a 9-inch circle. Spread the dough with 2 tablespoons apricot preserves and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the filling. Press the filling lightly into the dough. Cut the circle into 12 equal wedges—cutting the whole circle in quarters, then each quarter into thirds. Starting with the wide edge, roll up each wedge.

Place the cookies, points tucked under, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Brush each cookie with the egg wash. Combine 3 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle on the cookies.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove to a wire rack and let cool.

Mmm, Mmm Good!

Tuesday Tidbits

How Y'all doing?

I just checked my Google analytics and since I started this blog last September I've had almost 1100 unique visitors. However, I only know a few of you. Thanks for checking out my blog. When you stop by, say hi.

I am loving the weather this week.  The temps here in Atlanta are in the high 60's and low 70's. That is perfect to me. Once it gets above 80 degrees I am done. That is just too hot for me unless I'm on a beach somewhere.

I tried making homemade mozzarella this past weekend. My friend, Bunny bought a kit that was supposed to make cheesemaking easy. NOT!
This is the kit we used
The kit is basically renat tablets, citric acid & recipes. You mix 1/4 of a renat tablet with 1/4 cup of water. Then mix 1 1/2 tsp of citric acid in 1 cup of water.
Take a Gallon of milk and add the citric acid and heat to 90 degrees

Then remove from the heat and pour the renat solution into the milk and stir in an up and down motion for 30 seconds...

Cover and let sit for 10 minutes

This is what you get I got.
Epic Fail!
Well, not such an epic fail. We didn't get mozzarella but we did get enough solids to make a yummy cheese spread. We just added a few spices and BAM.

Pretty good! I still want some fresh mozzarella but I think I will just buy it next time.

You've got shemail!

I am bummed RuPaul's drag race is over. I'm even more bummed Tyra Sanchez won but I digress. She did seem a bit better in the reunion special. Let's hope so! I am was soooo exited that Pandora Boxx won Ms. Congeniality.
She was my favorite!

Luckily, RuPaul has a new show coming to Logo this summer...

"RuPaul's Drag U" is a series where everyday women compete in a series of challenges to unleash their inner diva. Hosted by RuPaul and a team of drag queen instructors like past Drag Race stars, Jujubee, Ongina, Tammie Brown, Shannel, Morgan McMichaels, Raven & Pandora Boxx.
Can't wait!

The drag race is over

And the winner is...
Tyra Sanchez

OMG, THIS SUCKS! She was such a dang bitch throughout the entire season. Raven or Jujubee should have won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UGH!

Gentlemen, Start your engines

And may the best WOMAN win!

I am so addicted to RuPaul's drag race! If you guys are not watching it, you better work start. They run marathon's of it on LOGO so you can check up. Tonight is the season finale. It's down to three girls...

JuJuBee(my personal favorite)
Raven

&
Tyra Sanchez(The "Other" Tyra)

If you are watching, who do you want to win? I choose JuJuBee because she is a sweetie. Tyra has been a cutthroat little bitch. She has annoyed the other contestants and she does not play fair. Anyone remember her knocking the clothes rack over to trip up the other girls? HELLO! What a B*tch!  Raven is good, but she's  been a bitchy little queen too. I know, I know...a lot of you like that kind of attitude... but me...not so much!

The finale is 2.5 hours tonight and begins at 9pm est. The finale includes a reunion special with all the contestants getting together and discussing all the things that happened during the show. I CANNOT WAIT for that!  There was a lot of crap said and done on camera. I love it when they all now know what was said and they confront the ones who said it. AWESOME TV! Tune in!

Happy Earth Day

Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. I thought I would celebrate in pictures. These are a few I've taken over the last year at a couple of parks near my house and from Stone Mountain in Atlanta.  The Earth is a beautiful place...let's protect it!
