Gary Coleman has died

Former child star, Gary Coleman died today after suffering a intracranial hemorrhage. He was only 42.
A coworker asked what he died from and someone replied  "I think it was a stroke"...To which the co-worker replied....was it a "Diff'rent Stroke"? lol

Sorry, but I had to tell that story...RIP, Gary!

Happy Birthday, Scooby

Thirteen years ago today I received the best present ever...my dog, Scooby. My roommate at the time had his mother and dad and when the puppies were born she offered to give me one. I had never thought about having a small dog but I said I would take one anyway because they were sooo cute. I am so glad I did. He is my baby. I can't believe he's thirteen already. I am hoping for at least that many more years with him...
Happy Birthday, Scooby!

These are the first pics I ever took of him. Look how small he is...

My favorite pic....so cute...
His first Christmas pic...how cute is that face!
He's been "dog of the day" twice on the website http://www.dogoftheday.com/

I love you, Scooby Doodle

The Friday Flashback

I remember my sister taking me to my first day of middle school. I was so nervous and excited at the same time. We pulled up for her to let me out and I heard this song blasting from at least two cars. Almost thirty years later(OMG, really? I'm so old) and I still love this song.

F*ck you

Oh gosh, I love Lily Allen even more now. Please watch this video and pay attention to the lyrics.
Thanks to my blogger buddy @ rectal ventriloquism for blogging about this video. I had to steal it for mine. I'd like to dedicate it to all the haters out there.

Here are the lyrics...

Look inside, look inside your tiny mind
and look a bit harder
cause we’re so uninspired
so sick and tired
of all the hatred you harbor

so you say it’s not okay to be gay
well I think you’re just evil
you’re just some racist who can’t tie my laces
you’re point of view is medieval

Fuck you, fuck you very very much
cause we hate what you do
and we hate your whole crew
so please don’t stay in touch
fuck you, fuck you very very much
cause your words don’t translate
and it’s getting quite late
so please don’t stay in touch

do you get, do you get a little kick out of being small-minded?
You want to be like your father
it’s approval you’re after
well that’s not how you’ll find it

do you, do you really enjoy living a life that’s so hateful
Cause there’s a hole where your soul should be
you’re losing control of it
and it’s really distasteful

Fuck you, fuck you very very much
cause we hate what you do
and we hate your whole crew
So please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you very very much
cause your words don’t translate
and it’s getting quite late
so please don’t stay in touch

Look inside, look inside your tiny mind
and look a bit harder
cause we’re so uninspired
so sick and tired
of all the hatred you harbor

You say you think we need to go to war
Well you're already in one
Cause it's people like you
That need to get slew
No one wants your opinion

Fuck you, fuck you very very much
cause we hate what you do
and we hate your whole crew
so please don’t stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you very very much
cause your words don’t translate
and it’s getting quite late
so please don’t stay in touch

When you're a celebrity...

This is the blog where I become a little bitchy. I know, I know...I try to hold back and do a pretty good job at it. However, I just saw something that cracked me up. How does that make me bitchy? Here's why...

I don't follow this person's blog and I will change a few of the facts in order to not make it so obvious as to whom I am speaking of. I was reading a blog that I follow when to the right of his blog, I saw current postings from people he follows. The title of the post caught my attention so I went to that blog. It seems this blogger had held a contest and there was a prize to be awarded to the winner. That's a good idea. Maybe an effort to draw comments or followers? Whatever the reason, it's a good idea. Who doesn't like to win something?

This post in particular was the grand finale where the winner was selected. So I wondered...what is the prize? Well, it was an autographed CD. How cool is that! Well, it was their copy of the cd by a particular artist. It was not signed by the artist...It was signed by the blogger. The way they said it was like this...This is my personal cd that I bought and loved, but I have already listened to it so I am autographing it and sending it out to the lucky winner. Really? Ok, so the cd itself is a score but who does this blogger think they are? It just came off as very narcissistic. I mean, do you think people want your autograph just because you're a blogger?

There are of course, exceptions to every rule. One of the blogs I follow, is Dean Grey's "Exploding Doughnut". I love his blog! He is good blogger and an extremely talented artist. A few months ago he held a contest and the prize was one of his paintings. I won it!....YAY! It was signed...but he is an artist and he should sign HIS work. Julie Powell was a great blogger who became a writer. Her book "Julie & Julia" became a movie last year. If I were following her blog, I might have asked for her autograph AFTER her book was published. I did check, this person is not famous...they work a regular 9 to 5 type job AND they don't have a ton of followers.

It got me to thinking(Yay, something finally got me thinking)...in this world where we are so obsessed with celebrities...are we obsessed with becoming one too?
Is blogging our attempt to attract "fans" and "followers". Are all bloggers a bit narcissistic? Remember, I'm a blogger too so I'm also talking about myself. I like to post
all kinds of things because that's who I am. I love cooking ...so you will see cooking post. I love pop culture...so you will see related blogs. I love gay related issues...so I will post stuff relevant to that. I will also throw in some blogs about myself and my life. That's just how I roll! II might now also do some contest on my blog. I really like that idea...but please, and I am begging you...if I offer to autograph it for you....STOP ME, PLEASE!
I'm curious, am I being a big bitch?

Goo Goo for GaGa: Part Deux

Spank away the gay

By now I'm sure most of you have heard the story of George Rekers. For those that haven't here is a little recap straight(no pun intended) from Wikipedia ...

"Rekers was on the founding board of the Family Research Council, a non-profit Christian lobbying organization, along with James Dobson and Armand Nicholi Jr. He is a former officer of the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH),an organization offering conversion therapy intended to change homosexuals into heterosexuals. Rekers has testified on the allegedly destructive and sinful nature of homosexuality in a number of court cases involving organizations and state agencies working with children."

This month, Rekers was caught in an airport with a male prostitute who had an ad on rentboy.com. Rekers claimed he knew nothing about this guy being a prostitute and that he had hired him just to be a "travel companion" to help with his bags during a 10-day international trip. Uh huh, right!

In 1974, Rekers was involved deeply into therapy he thought would get rid of homosexuality in children. His method? A reward-punishment system that involved spankings from the boy’s father to enforce masculine behavior. One of the experiments was with a four year old boy who had effeminate behavior. The boy, Kraig, had been enrolled in the program by his parents. Keep in mind, this boy is 4 YEARS OLD...4!!!!! Rekers would also put the boy in an observation room with his mother. The room was filled with masculine and feminine toys. If Kraig tried to play with any of the feminine toys his mother was told to avert her eyes from him.

The research would continue in the family's home. Kraig received red chips for feminine behavior and blue chips for masculine behavior. The blue chips could be cashed in for candy or television time. The red chips earned him a spanking from his father. At age 18, Kraig attempted suicide. Luckily, he wasn't successful.

This story really makes me so mad. It was the same reason I never admitted my sexuality to anyone until I was in my 30's. I too thought about suicide...let me say that again, thought about it. I never attempted it.
I was brought up in the southern holiness church where if you were gay, you were doomed to hell. That messes with your head. So many years, I questioned why God would punish me and make me this way. Why wasn't I normal? I had the choice to go the "straight" route and I took it for fear of going to hell. I dated several woman in my 20's and could have gotten married ...but I didn't. I just couldn't do that to someone. I knew I would never have passion for them and that just felt so unfair. It was after I broke up with this girl I really liked, loved even that I thought about suicide. I pushed her away and really hurt her. It was a tough time and when I decided to say the hell with everyone...I want to at least try being with a guy. The first time felt so right. Even then, after a few years of "being gay"...I had what was almost a nervous breakdown. I got back in church and decided to get this "demon" out of me. That lasted a few months b4 I realized it wasn't going anywhere.

It has taken me this long to be comfortable in my own skin, That being gay isn't a demon...it's just who I am. I believe in God and I believe he loves me. I also believe that this is the reason a lot of gay people are agnostic. It's time that we just accept people as they are even if you don't personally like it. Let them live their lives and you live yours. UGH!

Goo Goo for GaGa

It seems like a lot of people really love Lady GaGa and her music.  I know I do! People performing her songs or doing their own videos to her songs are popping up all over youtube.

Chris Daughtrey singing "Poker Face"

Yesterday, my friend, Bunny told me about this kid and it has become my favorite. A twelve year old boy singing "Paparazzi" at his school chorus concert...
He was on Ellen today showing off his skills and boy does he have them! Check him out...
