Marie Osmond's son commits suicide

Marie Osmond's 18 year old son, Michael Blosil(pictured above as a child wearing the v-neck sweater and white shirt), committed suicide Friday night. Reports said he jumped to his death from a downtown Los Angeles apartment building. Michael is one of Osmond's five adopted children. She also has three other children from two marriages.

"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," Osmond said in the statement.

This is soooo sad! This story comes on the heels of Andrew Koenig's suicide last week. I wish I could have been there to give these guys big hugs and tell them it will all be ok. Nothing ever stays wrong that long...hang in there!

It just shows the seriousness of depression, and how we need to stop taking the symptoms and signs so lightly.

This is a devastating story. I feel awful for Marie, as I'm sure she will be questioning everything she has ever done or said to her son.

Depression is such a terrible illness, and it makes me so angry when people say that suicide is a cop out, and that the person who commits suicide is selfish.

Despite being part of a Mormon family... my heart goes out to Marie. The pain of loosing a child seems usbearable. As someone on medication for depression, I appreciate your reader's comments.
