Oprah: Love Her? Hate Her?

I was getting ready to do a whole post on the new Oprah Winfrey Network(which I LOVE). Then I saw another negative comment about Oprah on someone's facebook page(Hey Michael). Since I began blogging, I've seen quite a few negative things written about her. It got me to thinking...why do people hate her so much? I still love Oprah. Sure, she can get a little annoying sometimes but who can't? However, it seems that most people either love her or hate her. If you do hate her, it seems the hate runs deep. It makes me wonder If I missed something. Did she do something specific to make you hate her? So I am going to hold off on my Oprah network post and just ask ....

If you are one of the haters, Why do you hate Oprah?

I love Oprah because she is very pro LGBT. In my opinion, she has done a lot to show that we are just like everyone else. There is no other show on daytime TV that covers LGBT issues like she does. When her show is gone, we still have entertainment shows but not one like hers. She is also a great philanthropist.
If you still love Oprah, I would love to hear from you too. Show your Oprah love and tell me why you're still a fan.

My gripe with her is her holier than thou attitude she tends to wear on a regualar basis. She just reads false and pretentious to me.

It's one of those oil and water things, I guess. Rubs me the wrong way, and I just dislike her. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

She's done a lot of good, I'm sure, for a lot of people. I'd just rather not have to look, watch, read, hear, or hear about her.

And don't get me started on the NWO network... ;)

I love Oprah. I have no problem with her at all. I think some people hate her because they hate powerful and successful people in general and Oprah is part of the megarich that doesn't pay enough in taxes among other things.

I understand that. Racheal Ray is super nice and does a lot of good but I can't stand to watch her. She gets on my last nerve with her abbreviations and how funny she thinks she is. lol

If you had to torture me with a choice between RR and her EVOOMGSTFU and the Big O, I'd take O any day.

I don't haye O, I just dilike her intensely.
I find her pretentious.
I find she spends a great deal of time telling us all how rich she is, for example:
Years ago, I saw being interviewed for, I think, Sixty Minutes. The interviewer said he had one more question, and would hurry, because he knew she was catching a plane.
Her response? "It's okay, they'll wait. I own it."
Now, good for her, but why not just say, "I'm in no hurry."?
She does a lot of good work, but she's quite fond of reminding us all how much good she does.

I agree with everything Rabbit says. (Funny, Bunny and Rabbit agree!) She just comes across, to me, as very condescending and know-it-all-y. I don't HATE her, but I just try to avoid her.

I don't watch her show, but I love Oprah. I love how she personifies the American Dream and I love how she has tried to help so many.
