These R the thoughts

These r thoughts that are running through my head as I try to come up with a good blog idea...

1) I should blog about dinner last night. My friends and I went to Taverna Plaka. It's a wonderful Greek restaurant in Atlanta. I had Moussaka. That's a cool name for a dish isn't it?....MOUSSAKA... I like that word...Moussaka. Come on , say it with me...Moussaka! Here's a pic of it...tasted as good as it looks...Mmmmmmm

2) Hey Look, a squirrel

3) I think I'm a good driver...very good driver! I just think everyone else doesn't know how to drive. Yeah, I'm a little aggressive, drive a little fast and sometimes text while driving...but overall a very good driver.

4) I can't believe some horror pic finished first at the box office this weekend. I thought everyone would go see "All About Steve" with Sandra Bullock and the delicious Bradley Cooper. What's up with that?!?!?!

5) That reminds me, I haven't seen the latest Harry Potter movie...why? I really wanted to see it and time just got away from me. I wonder if it's still playing.

7) I'm glad to be home. I house sat this weekend. My boss has a beautiful home, lots of land and sits on a private lake. It's beautiful there but it's not home.

8) Wow, Ga. Tech won this weekend and the Ga. Bulldawgs lost! What a great start to this season. I hope it last. I want Tech to do well and beat the Dawgs again. Go Jackets!

9) I love my dog. He is sooo cute!

Are you ready for some football?

I love this time of year...fall is fast approaching and it's time for college football...Woohoo!

Here in Georgia, college football is not just a sport...it's a tradition! And the battle lines are drawn between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Georgia Bulldawgs. If you couldn't tell from the pic above...I'm a Yellow Jacket fan. Tech won the battle last year in a close one, 45-42! I'm hoping for a repeat :)

Kayaking For Dummies

Well, yesterday was an adventure to say the least. My friend Bunny and I decided to go Kayaking. I have to admit I have never done this before but it sounded like a lot of fun. We live near the site of the 1996 Olympic rowing venue. They offer a 2 to 3 hour Kayak rental for $15. I think that's pretty cheap. However, when you get there they give you a Kayak, paddle and life vest and send you on your way...lessons are extra! Who needs lessons, right? WRONG! We needed them but we discovered that AFTER we had pushed away from the dock. That shizz is harder than you think!

We started paddling and somehow made it away from the dock into open water. That's when the water circles started. What are water circles you ask?! Well,these circles are formed by two people who know absolutely nothing about paddling a Kayak. We are trying our best to move forward but somehow only moved in circles. When we did manage to break from the water circles we found ourselves under a bridge. That was followed by us crashing into one of the bridge supports. We were spent and frustrated so we decided to give this up and head back. We start trying to make our way back when we realized we are heading for the boat ramp. Two trucks are parked there trying to load their boats into the water. We cannot seem to turn and are headed right for them...unable to stop ourselves. PADDLE RIGHT...HARDER....RIGHT....whew, we missed them by inches. I am sure they were wondering WTF we were doing!

That was that and we were done. Luckily I had brought my phone. It is waterproof and I had wanted to get some pics so Bunny thought it was better than risking damage to my camera. Plus I thought it might be handy to have one in case we needed to call 911. I called my sister and ask her to look up instructions on how to paddle a Kayak. After she stopped laughing she decided to meet us at the park and give us some instructions. We parked on a beach area and waited. When she arrived she got in the boat with Bunny and they had a little lesson. Then Bunny got out and I got in with my sis and had my lesson. It turns out we were just overcompensating for turns...we were trying to turn by rowing hard to one side...It turns out you just need to simply put your oar to the opposite side and stick it there for a sec and the boat glides back into position. Oh well, who knew!

After our lesson I forced Bunny back in the boat. She was very hesitant at first. I think her exact words were something like "oh hell no, I'm not getting back into that f'ing boat." I told her that if we didn't conquer this now we would never get back in one. You know...the whole if you fall off a horse get back on thing. She got back in and WE LOVED IT. It turns out its so much easier when you do it right...now we can't wait to do it again.

Popping my blog virginity

Yay, it has finally happened. I'm no longer a blogging virgin. I'm popping my own cherry. OH GREAT...has it come to that?!?!?!

So...How Y'all doin?

A little about me... I grew up in the deep south and 40 years later I'm still here. I'm a single gay male. I have one child...a cute Dachshund named Scooby. I've had him since he was born. My ex roommate had his mother and father. While we were living together they had puppies and she offered me one. I had no intentions of getting a dog at the time but couldn't resist that face(I'm posting a pic of him...tell me you could resist that...I think not!) He just turned 12 this past May.

I grew up in the "Bible Belt" and was reared in church hearing constant sermons about sins and immorality so I have struggled with my sexuality and my openness about it. Last year I decided I have lived long enough in the closet and would no longer deny my sexuality. Since then I have been open with new people that come into my life. However, I haven't come out to all of my friends and family yet.

I have told two of my sisters and my dad. They were VERY accepting. I haven't quite gotten up the nerve yet to tell my mom. That will come...soon(stay tuned)! I don't think my mom will disown me...but I know this will hurt her. She will be consumed with the fact her son is going to hell for this sin. Is it a sin? That's a big question, isn't it! I've had to deal with that question my whole life and if I'm honest...I still ask myself that a lot. I used to think this was my sin to overcome...like someone dealing with alcoholism or whatever. I no longer think that.

I truly believe I was born this way. Looking back I was always gay. I just didn't know what gay was. When I found out what gay was it was usually followed by the words "hellfire" and "damnation". That would scare any kid and would eventually lead me to live a so-called str8 lifestyle for a LONG time. That was until I was almost 30 and finally decided I had to give in to the temptation and actually experiment with guys. It didn't take long before I knew that I liked it...lol.

I decided then that I would live a secret life. I would have sex with guys and just have "fuck buddies" but wouldn't let anyone in on my secret. That fulfilled the need temporarily. I realized last year that I still wasn't happy. I wasn't me...I want love! I want that great relationship where I'm open and honest with a partner...someone who will love me for me.

I know it's out there and I will find it. How's that for optimism?!?!?!
